Holly & Jeremy’s Mid Century Modern Wedding in Charleston

Getting Ready

Both Holly & Jeremy got ready at the venue, the Legare Waring House. This is one of the BEST features of this wedding venue. The bride and bridesmaids take over the upstairs part of the house which is gorgeous & full of beautiful natural light. The guys get a whole wing to themselves but the library downstairs is also a great option for the groom to get ready.
I could have photographed Holly’s details all. Damn. Day. I mean technically I did. She has a very mid-century/1920’s glam vibe on a NORMAL day, so of course it was important that her bridal look reflected that! Her Jenny Packham gown was perfect for her vision BUT she had a Second Look for the reception – it was Jeremy’s mothers dress altered by friend & bridesman Daniel…who ALSO HAND MADE THE VEIL. This man is pure talent.

Portraits

Confession time (crap now I have Usher in my head): Holly & Jeremy didn’t have any natural light portraits together done on the actual wedding day due to Daylight Savings & them keeping it traditional. Instead, we went back to Legare Waring the next month for a Day After session! But I mixed their natural light portraits in because I love them so much (-;

Most of the wedding party & family photos DID get done before the ceremony in dreamy golden lighting. Holly gifted her bridesmaids + mom awesome leather jackets with their nicknames on the back!

The Details

Oh the details!! Jeremy built their custom photobooth and the ceremony backdrop (in fact they are opening a wedding rental company called Sawdust & Sweetgrass with their handmade builds). Holly loves Harry Potter so guests were greeted with a quote on a sign at the ceremony site.

Some of the furniture came from the couples house and some was rented and the reception decor was heavily inspired by florals.

The Ceremony

The couple had been together for 10 years so this was truly a very emotional day for all! Holly & Jeremy wrote their own vows & a friend married them, adding that extra special touch to the day.

The Reception

I really loved the reception. Since the couple couldnt attend the cocktail hour since we were doing photos, it was fun to follow them around. They did a shot in honor of one of Jeremy’s family members, Holly snagged a beer that one of the guests brewed that they were serving, and a groomsman RIPPED HIS PANTS from dancing so hard (you’ll know the photo).

I actually ended up camping out at the photo booth because the instant camera they set up for guests stopped working so no one could take any photos, which doubled as their guest book! I knew how hard Jeremy had worked on that detail so I left Jay on the dance floor and I got so many wonderful photos of their guests in the photo booth.
