Esther & Carter’s Winter Wedding at the William Aiken House

The week of Esther & Carter’s September wedding I was at Disney World and I was PANICKING. You see, Hurricane Florence was on her way and the weather people couldnt quite make up their minds yet if Charleston was going to be wiped off the map (something they always say and has yet to happen).

A state of emergency was declared anyway and all of the roads were reversed so people living on the coast could get away.

I was making frantic phone calls not only about our dogs, but to poor Jackie, the wedding planner. I needed to know if I should go home that day (it was Monday and the wedding was scheduled for Saturday, which of course was the day the hurricane was going to make landfall because WHY NOT) or if Jay & I should ride the storm out at Disney. Within 2 hours, the decision had been made that the wedding would be postposed until November 30th.

Esther and Carter were ALREADY IN THEIR CAR driving to Charleston when they had to make this hard choice, but like the fricken champs they are, they turned around, went home and that Saturday in the pouring rain of NC during tropical storm like weather, they put on a wedding dress & suit and popped some champagne in the rain with a photographer in tow! They made the national news outlets (-;

It all worked out though because instead of a gross windy slightly rainy day that had been their original wedding date (we really didnt get any sort of Hurricane weather but it was still gloomy out) we had a GORGEOUS day in November.

So the moral of the story is this: Invest in wedding insurance especially if you’re getting married in the South between May-October which is Hurrican Season! Esther & Carter made this wise choice and it definitely came in handy.
