Meg & Nick’s wedding at Lowndes Grove was filled with personal touches and a focus on family – with a dash of Hollywood Glam!
Getting Ready at Lowndes Grove
When I first arrived, I was setting my bags down in the hallway when Meg breezed by me (definitely not noticing me haha) and her long white robe was fluttering behind her and my immediate thought was “She looks like a Victorian ghost”.
So of course I asked her if I could turn into a ghost for a photo and because shes the best she replied with “Ghost me!” and thats the kinda person I wanna work with on their wedding day (-;
First Look & Portraits
Nick had such a sweet reaction to seeing Meg FINALLY in her dress!! They were our first Covid postponement – they were in town for their wedding already and 3 days before the big day is when everything had to shut down. They ended up still getting married on their original day (and we photographed it) so it was nice to finally get them the to the Celebration Day!
Ceremony on the Lawn
The vow renewal ceremony took place at golden hour on the front lawn and it was short & sweet!
This was Meg & Nick’s 3rd ceremony…they had TWO on their original date when Covid cancelled their wedding. Their officiant had a family member whos immune system is compromised so the officiant married them with just the 3 of them in the morning, then that afternoon Meg’s stepdad Dudley acted officiant for the 20 people + us and of course the 3rd one was this one!
Hollywood Glam Inspired Wedding Reception
For the reception, Meg had her hair done into a braid which totally changed her entire look!
They had a really cool experience for their guests by having Candlefish set up an area with a custom candle scent just for them!
What was the most special moment of the day for you?
I truly enjoyed my first looks with my dad and my husband. Both of these moments were very intimate and special. I could not even tell you if others were in the room; all I saw were them and their happiness in that moment!
What do you look forward to most about FINALLY being married?
Having our wedding canceled 3 days before the original date (3.21.20) due to the pandemic set my standards pretty low, but wow every single team TRULY outdid themselves. What I look forward to is our next chapter; no long in the in between of original date + new date, but now on as truly a married couple! Plus the ability to look and relive this joyous moment through our photos will last a lifetime!
What was something quirky or crazy that happened on the wedding day?
Attack of the gnats…probably common in Charleston, S.C. but be prepared. OFF bug spray is your new signature scent ;)
If you did a First Look, talk about it here! What made it special, how were you both feeling before & after it, would you recommend it to a friend, etc
Wow, just wow! YES. This was everything and more. I had an intimate moment with my dad and my husband, and both did not disappoint. On a day that can sometimes feel overwhelming, or of pressure, in these moments I felt still; able to fully be present. I will truly never forget it.
I recommend this to everyone. Your walk down the aisle is enough already – have this moment be intimate :) Also, you now have more time with all those who came to visit you as you are able to knock out a ton of photos in advance!
What did you splurge on & what did you save on?
Splurge on the band – Steel toe stiletto. Let me tell you they did NOT disappoint. Absolutely amazing group of super talented individuals.
Save on the invites; the amount of people who lost them and/or did not even reference them made this decision easy! We used theknot.com and everything worked out great. Plus hey, its easy to call family to confirm if they aren’t too tech savvy :)
What made your wedding day special, unique or personalized to you as a couple?
My mom brought all of our family traditions to my day, including a 6 pence in my shoe. I was not familiar with a lot of these traditions, but bringing them up to be part of the wedding, when many older relatives were not able to join in person, made the day even more special. That those unable to attend were somehow with us on this day.
Whats the best advice you have for future couples planning their big day?
Journal on your big day or shortly after. It was such a whirlwind that I quickly was consumed by all around me. Writing down my feelings, excitement, and details will be something I cherish moving forward!
What did you love most about working with us?
We have been through a lot and this team handled it with GRACE. As a couple they are so happy and easy to work with. They shot our engagement photos, original wedding, and wedding 2.0. The more time I spend with them the more I would recommend them to anyone. So happy, cheerful, and light. These photos will always remind us of our special day(s).
