Lindsay & Matt’s wedding took place on Saint Patricks Day and was the PERFECT wedding to send us off to our Ireland honeymoon the next day. The morning started off rainy and to cheer her up, Lindsays bridesmaids took a trip to the store and bought some temporary tattoos that they all placed on their ankles and that made for a fun photo later on! But no worries, the rain clouds drifted away and we had beautiful weather the rest of the day!
Im so glad that Lindsay trusted me when I asked her if she was ok getting dressed behind the plantation because the light was so perfect & the azaleas made for a STUNNING backdrop! She slipped into the dress in the bridal suite and then stepped out to get zipped, fluffed, veiled, and put her jewelry on. The couple shared a sweet first look under the oak tree in front of the main house before they were handed their adorable pup, Peaches for some pics!

What was the most memorable moment of the wedding day?
We both agree that our absolute favorite moment was looking out at all of our friends and family during the wedding ceremony. It was the first time that all of the people who are the most special to us were in the same place. That will probably never happen again, and we will always treasure knowing that so many people came from so far to celebrate with us! My (Lindsay) most memorable moment was seeing Matt for the first time that day. We did a first look prior to the ceremony, and it was so wonderful to get to spend time with him prior to the ceremony. I was feeling nervous for most of the wedding day morning, and Matt is very laid-back. We talked about how our days were going, and he immediately put me at ease.
I think there are really too many to choose just one, but my (Lindsay) favorite detail was courtesy of my sweet bridesmaids. While we were getting our hair and makeup done, it started raining. The rain was stressing me out, and they wanted to take my mind off the rain. My bridesmaids went over to the Charleston City Market and found St. Patrick’s Day themed temporary tattoos. We each picked out our favorite and put them on our ankles; it was a fun distraction! And the rain stopped by the time we arrived at the venue!
We did a DIY Selfie Station instead of an expensive photo booth through a vendor. To make our photo backdrop, we purchased several different fabrics in our wedding colors, ripped them into long strips, and tied them to a rope that spanned about 7 feet. We provided a bunch of inexpensive props (hats, sunglasses, masks, etc) and selfie sticks so the guests could take pictures of themselves. It worked out really well and it cost less than $100.
We absolutely adore our Dachshund-Chihuahua mix (Chiweenie), Peaches. It was really important to us to have her as a part of our ceremony. She’s too little to make the walk down the aisle by herself, so she was carried by the Bridesman, Casey Neary. Peaches was the star of the ceremony; I think she got more crowd “oohs and aahs” than we did! At the end of the ceremony when we walked back up the aisle, she started barking because she didn’t want to be left behind. The entire crowd laughed and it was so sweet!
I (Lindsay) am a big Taylor Swift fan, and one of my favorite songs is “Love Story”. I really wanted to incorporate that song into the wedding ceremony. We had a violin and cello duo (Palmetto Strings) for our ceremony music. For my walk down the aisle they played the intro to Wedding March and then switched to the instrumental version of “Love Story.” It was perfect! It was really important to us to have the people closest to us be a part of our wedding. One of my (Lindsay) best friends is a guy. While it was a little untraditional, it was great to have Casey stand up for me as a part of the bridal party (as a “bridesman”). Instead of a bouquet, he carried Peaches down the aisle! Matt is a huge cookie aficionado, and he’s not a fan of cake. He wanted to provide a cookie bar for our guests, and he had a great time choosing which cookies to serve! We got married on St. Patrick’s Day, and we wanted to incorporate some small touches to honor the day. We did a handfasting ceremony as a part of our vows. Handfasting is an ancient Irish wedding tradition that has come to be interpreted literally, as the symbolic act of “tying the knot.” We also made gold foiled shamrocks for our table numbers. My bouquet had a beautiful vintage gold and sapphire shamrock brooch; this was my “something old.”
Is there anything you would change or do differently?
The only thing I would change is to try and relax a little more. I think I was unnecessarily nervous about the ceremony part of the wedding. Remember that everyone who is attending your wedding is there because they love and adore you or your partner; there’s no reason to be nervous!
