Ford Field and River Club – A Historic Mansion for Getting Ready
Have I got a wedding venue to tell you about today! If you’re looking for an exclusive, private place to tie the knot that’s equal parts elegant and laid-back, you need to check out Ford Field & River Club. This historic estate is nestled between Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA, and it’s an absolute dream. I was lucky to get to tour it with Baylye of Burnette Events and we were having so much fun envisioning a wedding there together.
The estate itself is stunning. It’s a historic mansion built in the 1930s for the famous Ford family, and it’s been impeccably maintained. When you step inside, you feel like you’ve been transported back in time – in the best possible way. The details are just breathtaking, from the chandeliers to the molding to the gorgeous hardwood floors. Not only can you get ready in the main house but they rent the rooms out nightly so you can sleep there as well, roll outta bed and get wedding ready!
The Front Lawn: The Ideal Setting for a Picturesque Ceremony
But that’s just the beginning. The grounds of Ford Field Club are equally impressive. The long front lawn is the perfect place for a ceremony – it’s wide enough to accommodate even the largest of guest lists, and the views are just incredible. Imagine saying your vows with a backdrop of Spanish moss-draped trees and the gentle sound of the nearby river in the background. You could also have the beautiful mansion as your backdrop on the lawn, but we personally think the oak trees are the better option.
Cocktail Hour by the Pool: Enjoy Stunning Marsh Views
After the ceremony, it’s time to party! And let me tell you, Ford Field Club knows how to throw a party. My favorite spot for cocktail hour that we were shown is over by the pool, which also includes STUNNING views of the marsh. I mean, you’re sipping on a cocktail and taking in some of the most gorgeous scenery in the South – what could be better?
Also, for the bold party people, just imagine jumping into that pool at the end of the night!
The Side Lawn: The Perfect Location for a Tented Reception
And then there’s the reception. It’s gotta be tented (can’t you just imagine a stunning sailcloth tent with an entryway decorated in lush florals?), which means you get all the benefits of an outdoor wedding without having to worry about the weather. And the side lawn next to the oak trees is just the perfect spot for it – it’s large enough to accommodate all your guests, but still feels intimate and cozy.
