Shelby & Sean’s Vibrant Wedding at the William Aiken House
“Katie and Jay were incredibly easy and so fun to work with! We just received our wedding pictures back and they did an amazing job capturing every special moment.
We loved how comfortable you made us feel and really brought out our affectionate sides! Your direction is on point and made us feel like super models. Would 100% recommend!” – Shelby & Sean
Shelby & Sean are the MVP’s of 2020. They had THREE WEDDING DATES. Their original date, they realized that they were just too busy with their booming monogram company to get any wedding planning done. Their second date was smack in the middle of Coronavirus (April 2020) and so they then had to pick their third and luckily final date which was in September!
When we did their engagement photos they said “We’re not postponing again, its happening in September!” and we replied with “we’ll be there, even if its just the 4 of us!”
Luckily, it was more than the 4 of us for their wedding at the William Aiken House (-; and what a party it was!
Getting Ready
How did you feel the morning of your wedding?
The morning of the wedding all I felt was excitement and love! It felt like no matter what happened, rain or shine, the day was going to be perfect. Our rehearsal dinner and welcome party the night before was so fun and it just felt amazing knowing all of our loved ones were in one place and all here for us. I knew the day and night were going to be a blast.
What do you look forward to most about FINALLY being married? (-:
Now that we are finally married, we look forward to trying to have a baby and growing as a family :)
Whats the best advice you have for future couples planning their big day?Our best advice is to hire a planner if it’s within your budget! Having Ali with us every step of the way was a game changer and life saver. Depending on the couples personalities, I think this could really help keep you sane during the planning process!
What made your wedding day special, unique or personalized to you as a couple?
Having monograms be subtlely included in the decor made it unique and special to us! Owning a monogram company, we didn’t want monograms EVERYWHERE, but seeing them in certain places throughout the venue made me smile throughout the day. The blue and white vases also made me happy because we have them throughout our house, gave me a sense of home and calmness throughout the day.
First Look + Fun Portraits
If you did a First Look, talk about it here! What made it special, how were you both feeling before & after it, would you recommend it to a friend, etc
We loved doing the first look! I could tell Sean was so surprised and excited after seeing me. I was so excited to see him after being anxiously apart all morning! We were both happy, excited and looking forward to the day and night ahead.. and happy the rain stopped moments before :)
We would definitely recommend doing a first look to friends! It was a special moment just between the two of us, and our friends watching from afar. It’s one of the few moments of the day you get to have alone. Also, it allows to get a lot of awesome photos before the ceremony without feeling rushed! After the ceremony, we were looking forward to the party so we were very happy to have a lot of the photos done beforehand.
Ceremony at the William Aiken House
What was something quirky or crazy that happened on the wedding day?Besides it torrential down pouring all morning causing downtown to flood, my dad stepping on my vail after walking down the aisle causing it to fall off was pretty funny. But I was just too happy to care or worry about it.
What was the most special moment of the day for you?
It’s hard to choose just one moment! The whole day was very special. Sean loved the speeches from his brother Craig and my dad. I loved being able to sit and enjoy dinner just us while sitting in the lounge area.
Just Married Photos & Cocktail Hour
What was your favorite detail of the day?
Sean’s favorite detail of the day was the lounge area around the dance floor. He feels like it got good use and it’s a great spot for people to gather and to chill out if they’re taking a break from dancing! I loved the detail of the pink flowers popping from the blue and white vases.
William Aiken House Wedding Reception
What did you splurge on & what did you save on?
We splurged on the venue itself! We knew this was our dream venue and were determined to be married at The William Aiken house no matter what. We are obsessed with the look, feel, uniqueness and location of it.
We saved on going with a DJ, rather than a band but 100000% are so happy with our decision. Our DJ was freaking amazing and made the party so awesome.
What did you love most about working with us?
We loved every single step of working with you guys! From the sweet little welcome package you sent, to the sneak peek Polaroids given at the reception, to the awesome slideshow days later.
BUT most importantly, we loved how comfortable you made us feel and really brought out our affectionate sides! Your direction is on point and made us feel like super models.
