Summer Wedding at the Cedar Room with Spellbound Events

Some of My Favorite Things From Audrey & Sam’s Summer Wedding at the Cedar Room with Spellbound Events

🌙 I loved the mixed match bridesmaids dresses in different shades of pink!
🌙 The flowers…my girl Elaine at Fresh Weddings is always killing it!
🌙 Their portraits at Rainbow Row! Even though it was like a bajillion degrees because it was August
🌙 The groomsmen wearing creepy Halloween masks – I love shit like that
🌙 All of the tom foolery in general that happened throughout the day!
🌙 The ceremony arch & the cake were just swoon worthy. And the ceremony arch was repurposed as the backdrop for the cake!
🌙 Originally, Audrey & Sam’s friend was supposed to officiate but couldn’t at the last minute (thanks, Covid) so Spellbound Events made some magic and snagged Kala of Mod Events as the officiant! I did a double take when I saw her walk in haha
🌙 All of the cocktail hour photos – Audrey & Sam really got to get some good mingling and hugs in!
🌙 Sam’s dance moves. I’d waited 2 years to see them!! He kept telling us at their engagement session in Boston that he loves to dance

Getting Ready at the Dewberry Hotel

How did you feel the morning of your wedding?

Sam: Very excited and surprisingly a tiny bit nervous wanting everything to go off without a hitch!

Audrey: Anxious for the day, considering we’d postponed twice already due to COVID so there were some existing nerves there. But overall I was just really excited for everything to get started and to see Sam!

What was the most special moment of the day for you?

Sam: The first look! Finally seeing Audrey in her wedding dress after all of the lead up and not having any idea of what she’d look like, but knowing she’d look absolutely beautiful. I was just so happy to be with her again from that point forward for the rest of the day.

Audrey: I’d also say the first look. Sam and I didn’t see each other Thursday, Friday (except at the rehearsal dinner) or Saturday leading up to the first look. That was the longest we’d been without seeing each other since March 2020 so it was such a relief finally seeing him again with the biggest smile on his face. And then I was just ready to get to the marrying part!!

What do you look forward to most about FINALLY being married? (-:

Sam: All of the “post-wedding” things! Like honeymooning in St. Lucia, looking for a house, building our family…

Audrey: After feeling like our lives were on “pause” for a bit due to COVID and postponing the wedding a few times, finally being able to turn the page and keep doing life together as newlyweds!

What was your favorite detail of the day?

Sam: The venue – the way it was set up, all of the decor, and seeing Audrey’s vision come to life was really awesome. The “pre-game” before the wedding ceremony (post first look & photos) with the wedding party was also so fun and really helped hype me up for the rest of the day.

Audrey: Also the venue. I have loved The Cedar Room for YEARS and all of our vendors did not disappoint in bringing my vision for the day to life. I mean, the florals were INCREDIBLE! They really exceeded all of my expectations.

You did a First Look! What made it special, how were you both feeling before & after it, would you recommend it to a friend, etc

Sam: My heart was feeling so full! Feeling very much in love and ready to get married. Also, sweaty. Would definitely recommend.

Audrey: Would absolutely recommend it! It was so nice to have that private moment and additional time, just Sam and I, before the craziness of the big day. I was just so excited to show him my dress after years of keeping that detail a secret!

Indoor Ceremony at the Cedar Room

What was something quirky or crazy that happened on the wedding day?

Unfortunately, our officiant, a best friend, was not able to travel to SC from CA due to COVID so that was a real last minute curveball thrown our way. Audrey had already been dealing with a few other COVID related curveballs so Sam fielded that issue and worked with Camila to find a last minute replacement who did an amazing job reading our best friend’s ceremony script so she was still able to be there in spirit. We’ve really honed the art of “going with the flow” over the last year and a half!

What made your wedding day special, unique or personalized to you as a couple?

Writing our own vows! This is something Audrey had always wanted to do, but Sam took a little convincing before he was fully on board. Now, we are both so happy that we did so we were able to customize the ceremony a bit to be personal and so special to us as a couple.

We were a little nervous that our families wouldn’t be thrilled with them, but I think everyone saw just how much effort and love we put into every word.

Also having our family and friends there to celebrate with us after such a crazy year and a half was extremely special.

What did you splurge on & what did you save on?

I don’t really think we splurged or saved on anything in particular. I think we were able to find a great team of vendors who were able to execute our vision within our price range perfectly. If I had to pick something I’d say the venue and the food were a bit of a splurge, but both were amazing and we got so many compliments on both so it was worth every penny.

Whats the best advice you have for future couples planning their big day?

People always say it goes by in a flash and it really does. The day was such a whirlwind, but having some private moments with just the two of us was really nice (first look, a few minutes pre-cocktail hour, sunset photos) to remind us that we were celebrating our relationship, our marriage, and starting the next chapter of our lives together.

Is there anything you would change or do differently?

Are we allowed to say “no COVID”?? :) Really, the day was as perfect as we could have imagined given all of the circumstances leading up to it and there isn’t really anything we can think to change!

What did you love most about working with us?

How comfortable you made us feel and how natural it was working with you both.

Sam doesn’t love taking photos and at no point did he feel like “ugh… more photos…” because you both made it so easy and fun. Also a huge plus that you’re married so you could walk us through some of the couple shots to help us not feel super awkward.

You were both just the best and all of the sneak peek photos are AMAZING so we can’t thank you enough for capturing our special day!!
