Pharsalia Flower Farm Wedding

Tori & Jeff’s Pharsalia Flower Farm Wedding

Y’all, I could legit write a fucking NOVEL about how incredible Tori & Jeff’s wedding weekend at Pharsalia Flower Farm in Tyro, Virginia was. But Im shit with words, so showing off a ton of photos will have to do! A visual novel, if you will (-;

Flower Workshop Rehearsal Dinner

Tori & Jeff were supposed to get married on Isle of Palms here in Charleston but because of Covid, they decided 2 months before the wedding to downsize to about 25 guests and get married in the mountains instead!

For their “rehearsal”, the bridesmaids and Tori met up with the owner of Pharsalia as well as planner extraordinaire (and my personal life saver because she let us stay at her house), Judith for a flower workshop! The ladies got to make their bouquets for the next day, while Tori made hers for the rehearsal. One of the Pharsalia florists was making her wedding day bouquet and wait till you see her reaction to it!

Getting Ready at Pharsalia

Tori & the Queens got ready at the main house of Pharsalia and all helped each other do hair & makeup and zipping each other into their dresses. Tori then shared 4 amazing First Looks! Her father, her step-father, her Queens & then of course with Jeff!

Jay was on the other side of the hill hanging out with Jeff & the guys who of course were sipping on some Old Carter, playing some disc golf and in general just goofin’ off!

How did you feel the morning of your wedding?

SO excited!! and surprisingly calm!  The girls and I went outside and did some yoga and set intentions for the day overlooking the mountain and I think that’s what really helped me calm my nerves and remain present throughout the day.  Jeff says he felt good but had a lot of anxious energy lol.

What was the most special moment of the day for you?

It was the first look for both of us!!  It was so sweet to have that special moment together and Jeff’s reaction was the best!

What do you look forward to most about FINALLY being married? (-:

Being able to call each other husband & wife!  And I’m surprisingly excited for us to have the same ‘team’ name when I change my last name.  Jeff’s most excited to be done with wedding planning lol

What was your favorite detail of the day?

For Tori it was the bouquet – it was wrapped with my grandfather’s handkerchief, a piece of my grandmother’s wedding dress, and pinned with my great grandmother’s broach.  The broach was extra special because it would’ve been my great grandmother’s 112th birthday that day!
For Jeff it was the charcuterie board! :)

I find it hilarious that Tori gave Jeff handkerchief that said “Keep Your Shit Together” and he had to use it a few times through out the day.

Also – mountain wedding portraits are quickly becoming a favorite of mine!

Virginia Wedding Ceremony with Mountain Views

If you did a First Look, what made it special, how were you both feeling before & after it, would you recommend it to a friend, etc

We would highly recommend a first look – it was our favorite part of the day!  We were both super anxious and excited leading up to it and honestly so relieved when it was over so we could get into party mode!  Jeff had the best reaction – he’s not a big crier so I definitely wasn’t expecting him to shed some tears when he saw me which made it all so so sweet.  I was worried it would take away from the moment of walking down the aisle but it really didn’t at all!  It was still so special and we were all still so emotional.

What made your wedding day special, unique or personalized to you as a couple?

We took a shot of Old Carter at the altar! Our ceremony was super short but heartfelt and very ‘us’ which was so perfect.

Spring Wedding at Pharsalia in Tyro Virginia

What was something quirky or crazy that happened on the wedding day?

Completely unplanned, we decided to cut the cake with my dad’s sword at the last second and it was hilarious!

What did you splurge on & what did you save on?The flowers were a huge splurge but they were beautiful!  We saved on a wedding cake by getting a few Smith Island Cakes brought in from back home.

Whats the best advice you have for future couples planning their big day?

Don’t stress about small stuff!  Little things will go wrong, the schedule will change and you won’t squeeze everything you wanted in, people won’t be there for you in ways that you expect, but at the end of the day, you still get to marry your person and that’s all that really matters!  Also, don’t be afraid to delegate!!  People really want to help so hand off anything that you can – it makes the day even more special for them to feel included.

Is there anything you would change or do differently?

Honestly, we wouldn’t change a thing!  It was really hard for us not having all of our friends and family there this year (we’re doing a big party with everyone next year!) but we feel we made the right decision to keep everyone safe.

What did you love most about working with us?

EVERYTHING!!!  You helped keep us on schedule and didn’t stress when we needed to change everything last minute.  You did an amazing job of herding cats (aka my wild family/friends for pics), and kept me sane and chill the entire time.  We’re sooooo bummed you’re not available for our date next year because you guys are truly the BEST!!  Can’t thank you enough!!
