Our Big Announcement!

BIG NEWS!!

Sometime after summer in 2014, Catherine Ann Photography will be relocating to the beautiful, historic city of…Charleston, SC!!!

This is a big, exciting, and scary venture for us that we are ecstatic to take! We appreciate any help our family, friends, past, and future clients can give us. Your referrals mean the world to us. Please don’t forget that we are destination wedding photographers and will travel world wide to take pictures for your special day!

We know what many of you may be thinking. What about the weddings that you already have scheduled in Florida? So long as you book before the move has occurred, we are considering ourselves “local” to Charleston AND the Tampa Bay Area. Meaning that if you book us in either of those cities there will not be additional cost for us to travel. You will also be able to see us listed for both markets on Wedding Wire.

Jay & I have been talking about moving for a few months now, though our initial plan was to just relocate to the St. Augustine area in a few years. Jay really wanted to be on the east coast part of the state, mostly in the Melbourne/Cocoa area, but I needed more history surrounding me so we agreed that St. Augustine would be a good compromise. He likes to surf & Daytona would only be 30 minutes away, no different than driving to St Pete Beach right now.

And then we went on our road trip last month & stopped in Charleston for a day. Besides eating breakfast at Toast, we were downtown for maybe an hour.
It was love at first sight for me. The buildings. The cobblestone streets. The smell of the salty air. I was done. I knew, deep down, that I needed to live here.
Jay, at first, was not convinced and he brushed my ‘joke’ aside of moving there (well, I was half joking, half being serious when I declared we should move). After being downtown for a short while, we visited the gorgeous Middleton Plantation, where I also declared I wanted to move to. I just can’t be taken seriously I guess.

We continued on our road trip for another 7 days and then came home.

Jay was at work & I was sitting at my desk working from home when my phone buzzed with a text message.

“So do you REALLY want to move to Charleston?” he asked

I was a little confused because we hadn’t spoken about it since being in the city.

“Yessss. I do. Whyyyyy? (-:”

“Well. Lets start planning for it now. When do you want to move?”

To be honest I was surprised that he was willing to move to Charleston. So let me bring your attention to the above quote; When someone else’s happiness is your happiness, that is love.
Jay has proven this to me time & time again. Not only has this man let me quit my office job that brought in a guaranteed income along with bonus checks every month to pursue my dream of being a full time photographer (I was too afraid to take the leap but he pushed me and I am so thankful for that), but now he is willing to uproot his life, leave behind his family & friends, and his job…so that my photography business can thrive. So that I can be closer to a historic city, which is not only something that makes me so happy, but is an essential part of the business because we focus on historic site and outdoor weddings. I never in a million years thought that I would ever find someone who supports me like this.
Not to mention, he willingly learned how to use a camera for me. Very early on in our relationship, he expressed that he wanted to one day “be a husband & wife photography team” even though he had barely used a camera before, let alone a scary SLR. I trained him to shoot in manual (no baby steps here! lol) and taught him my style and here we are!

So thats our news! (-:  We’re very excited for this new chapter in our lives. We will of course miss all of our family & friends and I’m really going to miss all of the incredible wedding industry vendors and other photographers whom I’ve gotten to know this past year.

Continue on to see just why we fell in love with Charleston!

I love gas lamps! I find them to be romantic…don’t know why

The perfect backdrop for some engagement photos, right? (-;

A ghost! (-;

I took this as a sign from beyond that it was meant to be! Because we have a flower for a logo…close enough, right? Actually, tonight, we saw Disney’s Frozen, and when we parked the car, the car in front of us had a Charleston College license plate and I said “Look, its a sign!” and of course, Jay laughed at me.
