Kelley & Ryan’s Old Wide Awake Plantation Wedding Photos | Charleston SC
Theres so much to love about Old Wide Awake when it comes to the wedding day: The historic house your entire bridal party can get ready in, the oak trees with spanish moss you can get married under, the brick staircase covered in ivy and the marsh views at the park just a few steps away for portraits, and of course the really cool white garage covered in greenery! With their green and ivory wedding color scheme, it was really the perfect location for Kelley & Ryan’s low country wedding! Kelley always dreamed of a backyard wedding and she said that Old Wide Awake provided that for them & their 175 guests!
The day started out with Kelley & all of her bridesmaids hanging out upstairs at the old house getting their hair and makeup done while lounging in cute floral two piece pj’s. Before getting dressed, Kelley wanted the classic bridesmaids in cute getting ready outfit shots and we had two options – the bed or the porch. After a minute of thinking Kelley decided for the bed…but the bed had other ideas. Just as the last girl was climbing on, the bed fell out from underneath them! Everyone screamed and laugh before Kelley & I caught each others eye and I said “Soooo the porch?” So just a warning to all future brides (and photographers!) the bed cant hold more than a few people at a time so be careful! Luckily no one was hurt. Kelley wore a gorgeous long sleeved lace dress along with a necklace made from her grandmothers diamond engagement ring. The bridesmaids wore a lovely two piece ensemble from Jenny Yoo. Ryan and the boys wore dark blue suits with blue striped ties.
I knew how much Kelley loved the park so we went there to do their first look! Both the bride and groom teared up a bit. We took their bride and groom portraits by the garage before the bridal party & families arrived for their photo ops! We shot a few more of Kelley & Ryan with the vintage camper of Sweet Lulu’s Bakery back at the plantation house! So cute! Afterwards everyone hid in the garage to wait for the ceremony, which took place under the oak tree overlooking the marsh.
When cocktail hour ended everyone followed the bride and groom from the park down the road to the plantation house where they caught a view of the plantation house and al fresco style dining under cafe lights that awaited them. Kelley’s sister created the seating “cards” which were giant magnolia leaves where she wrote everyones name in calligraphy (she even took some classes before the wedding for this particular DIY project).
Congratulations Kelley & Ryan!
