Middleton Place is home to America’s Oldest Landscaped Gardens which date back to the 1730’s! The main house was burnt to the ground during Sherman's march and the ruins are still there.
Middleton Place has it’s very own certified Organic Farm to provide the freshest farm-to-table ingredients!

Middleton Place does have an Inn next door but the style/decor is not to everyone's taste. So you could get ready there or you could get ready downtown!
All of the downtown locations are a 30+ minute drive to Middleton though

Your ceremony options are:
•Octagonal Garden
this garden boasts pansies and camellias in winter and vibrant azaleas and mixed annuals in spring and summer. Manicured Boxwoods adorn the pathways and live oaks dripping with Spanish moss are visible from every vantage point.
•the Butterfly Lake
At the Parterre’s end, sculpted terraces lead down to the Butterfly Lakes, which look like butterfly wings which extend to the Ashley River beyond.
•One of the two secret gardens
The smaller garden is ringed by formal landscaped hedges. The larger, with four marble statues representing the four seasons, is an equally intimate alfresco room decorated with green foliage.
•the Middleton Oak
Believed to be more than 900 years old, the Middleton Oak is nestled along the banks of the Ashley River and overlooks a flooded rice field, river and marsh. The adjacent Sundial and Rose Garden completes the romantic setting.
•the stable yard
Heritage breed animal lovers and craft enthusiasts will revel in the natural beauty of the Stableyards. Artisans practice centuries-old crafts in the company of heritage breeds.
•the Crane Pond
Overlooks the Mill Pond and the spectacular azalea hillside. Live oak trees draped with Spanish moss provide shade.
You can have a tented reception on the lawn but most people choose the Pavilion (helloooo air conditioning!!)
Depending on the time of year, you could consider having your dance floor set up outside the Pavilion.
You'll definitely want to consider adding some additional lighting options like candles & colored uplighting - it really adds depth to the reception and makes your dancing photos POP.
Take all of your photos at Middleton! The property is huge, so please make sure you reserve a golf cart to take us around.
*pssst - did you know you can pay to have the sheep come out to graze and take photos with them?*
Plan to take photos for 2 hours before the ceremony regardless of if you're doing a First Look or not.
