S & G’s Meridian House Wedding | Washington DC

Ooooh I hope youre ready for todays gorgeous, colorful, multi-cultural wedding!! S & G are fellow Disney Nerds and we first met them at the Magic Kingdom for their engagement pictures and we spent the entire day together! It was a trip I’ll never forget because right off the bat these two showed us how kind & thoughtful they are – we were there to shoot their engagement photos but they were the ones who brought me a little engagement gift…see, Jay & I had had gotten engaged at Magic Kingdom 3 days prior! These sweeties gave me a Rapunzel crown the minute we met up! And you bet I wore that thing all day long (-;

S & G tied the knot in a stunning 1920’s mansion known as the Meridian House in the heart of downtown Washington DC on a gorgeous September day. S told me that when they toured the venue she knew it was “The One” because of the library – she felt as if she were Belle (her favorite princess) stepping into the Beasts library and she was in awe! These two love to read so it was only fitting that they have a literary themed wedding with the reception taking place in the gorgeous library that first stole the brides breath away. Guests got to choose which side they wanted to sit on – Harry Potter or Narnia – for the ceremony. Their ceremony was a first for us because they actually had THREE in under 1 hour! They had a traditional Sri Lankan ceremony to honor S’s heritage, a Jewish ceremony for G, and then a civil ceremony presided over by the first Judge that S had ever worked for. It was truly unique and so them! They had family members read verses from different books such as Winnie the Pooh & the Velveteen Rabbit. S’s grandfather was the ring bearer and he carried a copy of Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince down the aisle with the rings tied inside to the Unbreakable Vow chapter. As they walked back down the aisle their friends and families showered them with pink rose petals from the petal bar they had set up (which is now mandatory for all weddings – sorry I dont make the rules!)

Each table at the reception had gorgeous floral arrangements and were named after some of the couples favorite authors with a quote on the bottom of the table sign. They had a pink ombre cake with two cats sitting on top – exact replicas of their furbabies who had to stay home and couldnt be there to celebrate (-;

I want to go back and do it all again because it was such a dream! Congratulations S & G! We need another Disney Date soon!
