Desiree & Martins’s Long Island Wedding Photos | Smithtown NY
I hope y’all are ready for a SUPER long blog post because Im showing off my “little bro’s” Long Island wedding photos!!! When Martins and Desiree asked us to be their wedding photographers I was just beyond honored. Martins and I have known each other since he was a year old and I was about 3, our families did literally EVERYTHING together when we all lived in New York and we still see each other as much as we possibly can but hey, we all live all over the place! Im in South Carolina, my parents and sisters are in Florida, Martins, Desiree and his brother Andris are in New York City, and my aunt and uncle are in Michigan. We did spend a whole week in the Bahamas with my parents and aunt and uncle earlier this year which was super fun (see part 1 and part 2).
Speaking of the Bahamas…
I first met Desiree back in 2012 when she and Martins flew down to the Bahamas for a few days. We were “roommates” on the top floor and I instantly liked her and secretly hoped that one day they would get married because then she would be family to me. They were still in college and I think had been together for a year or two at this point, but they were so fun together!
Martins and Desiree got married at Stonebridge Country Club in Smithtown, NY. The weather was calling for rain and we even had flash flood warnings popping up on our phones. When we arrived to start photographing it was pouring out but Desiree and Martins were both calm and happy and going with the flow. By the time Desiree was ready to get into her dress, the rain let up and the sky was blue! Not a drop more fell from the sky the rest of the day.
I really enjoyed hanging out with Desiree and her bridesmaids and getting to know her family, they were all super welcoming and a very funny bunch. The first look with her dad is one of my favorites and Im pretty sure her mom didn’t stop smiling all day!
Desiree and Martins chose to do a first look so that they could spend more time at the cocktail hour and reception with their guests. They met in college at Michigan State University so we did a few group photos of MSU alumni and current students (Desiree’s little brother just got accepted!) and they played the MSU fight song at the reception.
