Taylor & Matt’s Lavender & Mint Magnolia Carriage House Wedding | Charleston SC

I hope you’ve got some tissues ready because Taylor & Matt tied the knot (literally) and everybody cried! In Taylors own words “This wedding is anything if not sentimental!” These two hail from Ohio but Matt proposed to Taylor at Magnolia Plantation on a small white bridge tucked way in the back by the observation tower. We visited their special bridge for engagement photos and came full circle on the wedding day! I loved their colorful lavender & mint spring palette – colorful weddings are my jam!

The bride and groom had their wedding bands custom made using Taylor’s grandmother’s diamonds. The place they had them made at (Sam’s Emporium) holds a special place in Taylor’s family – they have been getting jewelry made there for generations! Her father had all of her mother’s jewelry made there and the piece of jewelry her grandmother had taken apart in order to give them for the diamonds was a piece of jewelry Taylors grandfather had made for her there!

These two are also very crafty – Taylor made all of the robes for her bridesmaids and Matt hand made (yes…hand made!!) all of the wooden bow ties for his groomsmen! Taylor also made custom wedding totes for her girls and she added some pearls and glitters to her wedding heels. Her vintage gown belonged to her mom. One of my favorite photos is a close up of Taylors sister buttoning the sleeves of the gown and Taylors tattoo is showing. She got the tattoo in memory of her father who passed away and had a little bit of his ashes mixed into the ink so he would always be with her. Even her bouquet was sentimental. When Taylor was born her father brought her mother a dozen white roses to her hospital in an antique vase that was belonged to Taylors great-grandmother, so her bouquet had some white roses in it!

The outdoor ceremony took place under the huge oak tree by the Carriage House where Taylors stepfather & her mom walked her down the aisle. Taylor and Matt exchanged heartfelt vows, laughed together, cried together, got to honor their Best Boy Palmer with a poem about a dogs love, and tied a fisher mans knot before sharing their first kiss! Guests then lined up to give the couple their well wishes before we jumped on the party bus and headed to the historic district downtown to do their bridal party photos. We snapped a few of the bride and groom with the colorful houses before heading back to the plantation to take even more photos (um a dream!)

We did have one casualty – a drone. Womp womp! Their friend Jason kindly offered to take some drone footage for them but it hit a branch and fell in the swamp! Luckily, it got fished out and was somehow still on, so Jason, we hope you were able to get it fixed!

Their reception took place at the Carriage House where everyone ate a delicious dinner inside and then danced the night away under cafe lights on the patio!
