You’ll notice that Cecilia & Brian’s destination wedding at the Kennebunkport Maine River Club is a little different. Theres no ceremony. The bridal party isn’t wearing anything cohesive. The bride doesn’t have a bouquet. Theres a reason for all that: this wasn’t the real wedding day (-; Cecilia & Brian legally got married in Sweden 3 weeks after their Kennebunkport celebration! Brian is the step-brother of my awesome photographer friend Stephanie Smith. Stephanie lives in Tampa and was unfortunately booked for a wedding & couldn’t make it to this celebration in Maine so she referred Cecilia & Brian to us! I helped Stephanie photograph a wedding for the Bush family last fall in Kennebunkport which is how I first met her dad & Brian’s dad! Lucky Steph though…she was their photographer in Sweden (-;
We had a fabulous week in Kennebunkport. We got to stay at Steve & Rich’s historic 1800’s home, we walked around the quaint little city, and we climbed a lot of rocks. Jay was very impressed with my ability to do stuff outside (Im really an inside kinda gal), but he forgets that as a child, I did a lot of climbing and camping, so its not like I dont know how! It was also the week of my birthday & Barbara Bush’s birthday so there were some celebrations going on.
The day of the celebration was so laid back and easy! Brian got ready in one part of the house and Cecilia on the other side. Jay and I woke up, went into to town for some breakfast, and then walked back to the house to start photographing! Cecilia wore a simple yet pretty long white cocktail dress with silver flats. We did a ‘first look’ outside the house before moving to the driveway and backyard for some family and friend photos. Then the 4 of us wandered around the historic neighborhood to do some bride and groom portraits. After that, Jay took the car to the Kennbunkport River Club and I hopped on a boat with Cecilia and Brian (and Kyle, Stephanie’s brother) as we made our way there by water.
Steve & Rich’s house is a stop on a historic horse & carriage tour!
Steve & Rich cut these flowers from the front yard that morning. How awesome!
I loved this tiny globe and thought it was a fitting prop, since they would be traveling for the real wedding
Seriously, guys. The yard was a dream!
The blurry tree in the foreground was planted by Steve & Rich in honor of Cecilia & Brian’s engagement! I knew we had to include it in a few photos
These are Cecilia’s bridesmaids!
And Brian’s groomsmen
While we were photographing, the groomsmen found us on their way to the Kennebunkport Club & started cat calling Brian! It was great
Brian is obsessed with ‘Merican flags so he really wanted a photo with one in the background. Your wish is our command!
I just love this photo of all their guests waiting for them at the Kennebunkport River Club!
Jay’s perspective and a terrible photo of me…Booooo
I just love this photo of them walking on the dock! They’re so happy!
Golden Hour light is my favorite!!
