Caroline & Alex’s Greenville SC Wedding at the Huguenot Mill and Loft
Though they live and got married in Greenville SC, Caroline & Alex actually met in Charleston on the 4th of July! Alex played kickball with Caroline’s sister Catie (great name right?) and she introduced them to each other.
Caroline ended up getting ready at Alex’s house (which they were prepping for sale) and she and the bridesmaids popped some confetti in the yard. Alex loves doing yardwork so we kept joking about how he would be spending a LOT of time in the yard over the next few days cleaning it up! They did their First Look in the backyard where Caroline said she panicked and ended up just jumping on Alex’s back as his cue to turn around!
For their colors, Caroline went with ice blue bridesmaids dresses and then decided to take a left turn on flowers and decided on pinks, greens, and whites. But the reception was themed more after their adorable golden retriever, Scout! Their wedding cake had a little golden retriever figurine eating into the cake on the bottom, they had napkins with their crest that also includes a golden retriever, and of course, Scout herself made some picture appearances.
Caroline grew up going to Saint Mary’s – she stopped going when she went to college but her grandpa was a super devout Catholic and they were very close so Caroline felt like he’d be really proud of her for getting married there. Not to mention it’s also so pretty and she had always loved the stained glass inside of the church.
Alex really loved the Huguenot Mill and Loft – from the big windows to having air conditioning in June!
Caroline’s grandpa used to knot shrimp nets, and he eventually started knotting rosary’s. He knotted both Caroline & her sister their own Rosary and dyed them light blue before he passed away so Caroline incorporated that into her bouquet along with the handkerchief that her other grandpa gave to her.
Funny story: They had to plan their bubble exit for 10:20 because Hamilton was playing next door and was ending at 10:30. They didn’t want all their guests to get stuck in the Hamilton crowd! You can even see a tracker trailer for the show in their exit photos (-;
