Shelby & Len’s Hibernian Hall Wedding Photos
Rare local couple alert! We usually work with destination couples but Shelby & Len are Charleston local’s! Len & his dad are members at Hibernian Hall which made it possible for the couple to have their reception there!
Grandmothers were highly honored at this wedding: Shelby had her paternal grandmother’s broach on the bottom of her bouquet, she wore a blue ring from her maternal grandmother on her right hand (which doubled as her “something blue”), her engagement ring has 3 diamonds from Len’s grandmother’s wedding ring, a table at the reception had framed photos of their grandparents on their wedding days as a way of remembering them and Shelby’s family surprised her with a handkerchief with her late grandmother’s writing on it.
Shelby & Len wanted to do their First Look in the gardens of the Nathaniel Russell House and I was so excited to do them in there! The best part is that their church was literally right next door. My favorite room in the house when we toured it a few months ago was the room that overlooked the cemetery haha
Since they live in Charleston, their wedding was PACKED and their dance floor was FIRE. Seriously. These two know how to throw a party!
So excited! I was also surprisingly very calm. The weekend had already gone by so fast, so I was trying to soak up every moment.
There were a lot – but if I had to pick one, it was saying my vows to Len. I got very emotional saying my vows, and it was something I’ll never forget.
My parents and sister gave me a handkerchief with my late grandmother’s writing on it. It was so special to me and I kept it in my wedding dress pocket (and used it!).
Is there such thing as saving in regards to a wedding? Kidding – kind of…
I would say our biggest splurge was our band, and man were they worth it! Len and I wanted a band that would give us an awesome party, and that’s exactly what they did! So much fun.
I think the fact that when it was all over, and we both said it was everything we could’ve ever wanted, just showed how the whole day was “us”. There wasn’t anything that someone made us do or have at the wedding, so the entire day was full of what makes Len and I happy.
Enjoy it! Parts of wedding planning can seem like a drag, but all of the sudden , it’ll be over in a blink of an eye and (maybe) you’ll look back and realize how much fun it was. I’m a planner, so I was all about wedding planning!
Have the superpower/ability to slow time so the weekend wouldn’t have gone by so fast :)
