Blaine & Andy’s Eolia Mansion Engagement Photos in Mystic Connecticut
Gilded Age cottages are my JAAAAM. Ugh I love them so much. (Ok so this place is juuuust outside the Gilded Age time period but Im lumping it in) Eolia Mansion near Stonington Mystic Connecticut was actually the PERFECT location for Blaine & Andy’s engagement photos because they are dreaming up a romantic wedding here in Charleston so a romantic location for the engagement pics was absolutely necessary.
This place was jam packed because it was one of the first really nice days of spring that locals had + it was a weekend. There were literally 10 other photo shoots happening at the same time in the front garden but no one seemed to be in the back of the house so in true Catherine Ann Photography fashion, I did the opposite of what every one else was doing…and I shot in the back garden of the house! And it was amazing. And later on, we shot in the front garden when it emptied out haha
As a lover of all things history, I wanted to share a little bit about this mansion! It was built in 1906 and named Eolia after the island of the Greek god of the wind! It used to be a working farm and the summer home of the Harkness family. It was left to the State of Connecticut in the 1950’s!
I really wanted to give some old world vibes to their engagement photos so towards the end of the shoot, I made Blaine & Andy run a lot to get some motion blur. I personally love looking at old photos and noticing how they arent tack sharp because someone moved.
