This past weekend we photographed Cassie & Luke’s Drengaelen House wedding in historic Hartsville SC and it was amazing! A week before the wedding, Cassie texted me to help her “wish away the rain” for her wedding…it was at 100%! So every day leading up to Saturday I checked my weather app and every day the percentage went down. On the big day, it didn’t rain a single drop! It was really overcast for most of the day so we had really soft diffused light which is always awesome (-:
We met up with Cassie and her bridesmaids at the historic Oak Manor Inn which was 2 minutes from our hotel (Small towns are so charming! Im not used to them though) and 2 houses down from the Drengaelen House (built in 1924). What I loved most about their wedding was that they honored their grandparents in so many different ways. Luke and his dad wore pocket squares made from his grandfathers old ties, Cassie had a little hummingbird hidden in her bouquet for one of her grandmothers, their outdoor lounge consisted of Cassie’s grandmothers furniture as well as an antique fireplace mantel that her grandfather had collected. It was so gorgeous and picture perfect!
I have to talk about the food for a minute. We have a lot of couples who say that food is important to them (plus your guests remember the food and the music!), but Cassie & Luke took it to another level and again, honored their grandparents! Their wedding favors were cheese straws, one of Luke’s grandmothers specialities. The food stations were based on the foods that they ate together while at Clemson, what they love to eat in Charleston where they live, and also some of Cassie’s Mema’s speciality items like the gouda mac n cheese. And….there was a Chic Fil A station too!
There families all went to Clemson and are all huge fans. Cassie surprised everyone by playing a recorded toast from Dabo Swinney and the Clemson mascot made an appearance at the reception as well.
