Four days after the wedding, her grandfather passed. That morning, we’d taken a candid shot of him smoking a Cuban cigar in the driveway. The couple later told me how much it meant—it was so him. And it never would’ve made a shot list.

One bride let her friends choose their own dresses, then surprised each of them with matching bouquets. Hers was made of all their flowers, tied with a ribbon in her favorite color. Sweet, intentional, and totally her.

And then there was the groom who brought foam cowboy hats and plastic pop guns to his luxury wedding (because luxury doesn’t mean boring). The groomsmen fired them off during the first kiss. The hats ended up on the dance floor—and on the couple during their exit. That night lives rent-free in my brain.
