Y’all, summer in Charleston is BRUTAL. You think you know hot until you’re in full wedding attire standing outside at 2:00 in the afternoon in July in Charleston.
But, its still a popular time of year to get married here! So we always recommend an indoor wedding venue if you’re planning to get married in Charleston between June-August!
1. The Cedar Room
Its got history! Its got tons of natural light! Its got AIR CONDITIONING! The Cedar Room is one of our top favorite wedding venues for a summer wedding here because you can keep your guests cool by having the ceremony indoors, head to the courtyard for cocktail hour during gold hour while your planner flips the space inside for your reception!
2. Lowndes Grove
This is one venue where Im never mad when a couple decides its just too damn hot to take any pictures on the lawn! We can do so much with the upstairs rooms and on the spiral stair case and the gorgeous checkered floor entry way!
3. Hibernian Hall or Merchants Hall
You’ll have to have your ceremony somewhere else, but your reception & cocktail hour will at least be indoors in the air conditioning in either of these historic 1840’s building’s!
4. The Ocean Course at Kiawah
Ahhhh, the ocean breeze will keep you & your guests a smidge cooler during the ceremony and cocktail hour on the lawn before moving inside to the AC for dinner and dancing!
5. Gaillard Center
This grand theater is a perfect indoor wedding option! You can get ready at the historic Zero George hotel across the street and take portraits around the cute Ansonborough neighborhood before heading off to your reception at the Gaillard Center
