Do You Need Bridal Portraits Done for the Wedding?
One of the things I love about shooting weddings in the South is that brides love getting bridal portraits done!
A lot of thought & money has usually gone into a bride choosing her wedding dress – its an extension of who she is as a person but in the form of a dress! So its kinda sad that it only gets to be worn one time for only a few hours. Guys can wear their wedding suit any time they want…even to other weddings!
So a bridal portrait session is a great way to wear the dress more than once.
Southern bride or not, here are my top reasons for doing a bridal portrait session before the wedding day (or even after!)
1. Location, location, location
Your bridal portraits don’t have to be done at your wedding location, so if theres a spot you’d love to get portraits at that aren’t feasible on the wedding day, this is the time! Speaking of time…

2. Time
Your wedding day is going to be hectic. Trust me. The chances of it running behind are very high (wedding day time does not go the same as normal day time) and while we always try to get a shot of the bride in all her splendor before she rushes off to the ceremony, it doesn’t always happen. A bridal session ensure gorgeous portraits of you in your wedding gown!
3. Creativity
We can get really creative with your bridal shoot, depending on comfort level or if you chose to do it after the wedding. This can be the location, the theme, and even the makeup!

4. Get Comfortable
This is a great opportunity to get comfortable in your dress, as the session can last up to 2 hours. You’ll be wearing your wedding dress for 8-10 hours on the wedding day! You’ll become comfortable posing in your dress as well.
5. Gifts
Again, bridal portraits are a big southern tradition, and many brides gift a portrait of themselves to their parents and grandparents.

6. Everything together
Its also a great time to see how everything looks put together – your hair, makeup, accessories, dress, fur stole or shawl if you’re wearing one, sash or belt, veil, etc. It leaves time to change anything you dont like before the big day.
