4th of July Backyard Wedding with Fireworks & Vintage Car
“You guys are literally the best. We felt immediately comfortable with Katie and Jay and we are IN LOVE with the photos you captured of our big day AND engagement session.
We were so clueless and awkward, and Katie gave us little cues that made it easy to strike the right poses without looking posed. That helped us be comfortable and confident in the process, and made for some beautiful photos that feel like “us.”
You guys are just authentically kind, cool, and SO TALENTED. You were a joy to work with. Thank you!!” – Sam & Cameron
Sometimes life throws you a curveball (*cough Coronavirus*) and you have to adapt in a way that turns out better than your original plan!
Sam & Cameron were planning a wedding a cute historic venue in downtown Columbia but then they werent sure if the venue would even be OPEN in time for their 4th of July wedding – so with one month to go they said “fuck it” & moved it to Cameron’s childhood home instead!
Getting Ready at Home
Sam got ready at their ADORABLE 1930’s house & Cameron got ready with the guys at his dad’s house (where the wedding was). Everyone was so relaxed and giddy and just so damn excited that the big day was still happening!
Of course, getting married on Independence Day, these two went with a red, white & blue color scheme and I was HERE FOR IT!! Sam had the prettiest blue shoes and Cameron had a brackish bow tie (and Sam got earrings to match).
In high school Cameron had restored a vintage car & we used it in his groomsmen pictures which turned out so fun!
The Backyard Ceremony
Cameron’s family built the arch that they used for their ceremony, which took place in the backyard by the big pond!
Sam said her favorite part of the ceremony was when they turned to face each other, Cameron gave her a wink and hand squeeze which calmed her heart completely!
Just Married Photos
Sam & Cameron were all smiles after the ceremony while we took their Just Married Photos – with special appearance by Sedley of course!
Backyard Wedding Reception with Fireworks
The couple shared their first dance by the pool under cafe lights and then got to mingle with their friends & family! They had the CUTEST little bar bus (The Bubbly Bus) that provided drinks to everyone! They had a cake (with Sedley as the topper) but they also served Cameron’s favorite cookies: chocolate chip!
The grand finale of the night was the fireworks which was really fun for me to shoot.
