Fun + Colorful William Aiken House Wedding | Christine + Rob

Christine & Rob’s Fun + Colorful William Aiken House Wedding

When Christine & Rob found the William Aiken House, they knew it was THE venue for them because it exemplifies so much of what they love about Charleston – vibrant colors, classic Southern architecture, a beautiful garden centered with a towering Magnolia tree, classic baroque decor, and a prime location right on King St (-;

Getting Ready

Christine & the bridesmaids got ready in the red room of the main house at William Aiken. When I arrived, Christine had prepared all of her details for me on a table – and one of her bridesmaids even designed their wedding invitation suite! She also told me that the veil she was wearing was her something borrowed, from her aunt & it was from Spain!

When the time came to get ready, Christine was helped by her aunt & maid of honor. I looooove the light that comes into the green room, it reminds me of an old English manor home, so I asked Christine to get ready in there.

Rob was over in the carriage house goofing off with his groomsmen, which is absolutely his style. They were a riot to work with! My favorite detail that Rob had was his airplane cufflinks that his brother gave to him!

1st Look + Portraits

Christine & Rob really wanted to spend as much time as possible with their guests so a 1st Look was the best option for them! The sky was looking a little gray but for the entire hour of portraits the rain held off! The skies opened up as soon as the full wedding party gathered under the piazza, so we ended up doing all of those pictures on the checkered tiles (but you wont here me complaining).

Rob, being the super fun guy he is, grabbed an umbrella at some point and walked out into the rain and said “I want this to be my groom picture!” and really, who am I to deny a man a request such as that on his wedding day?

Ceremony

After all of the portraits were done, we sent everyone back inside to freshen up before the ceremony. While I ran around to get all the details before guests showed up, Jay stayed with Christine & Rob, who chose to hang out with their wedding party rather than split up which is what normally happens! Stick together! So since everyone stayed together, Jay was able to get some really fun candids of the group!

Ok but now lets talk about the actual ceremony. Not only was it visually gorgeous but it was just a damn beautiful ceremony because of Christine & Rob. Christine & her dad walked over the fountain to Rob with one of the bridesmaids singing and playing guitar. Their mutual friend was their officiant so he was able to sprinkle in things he knew about them as individuals AND as a couple. They release BUTTERFLIES in honor of Christine’s mom. They wrote their own vows which were funny and sweet, and they had a box that they locked together to re-open in a few years.

Oh AND they walked down the aisle to a bubble exit. I love bubbles!

Cocktail Hour + Just Married Portraits

I stole Christine & Rob for 5 minutes for their Just Married portraits while guests walked over to the carriage house area for cocktail hour. Pretty much I just let these two lose and gave them hardly any direction because they were SO HAPPY and they kissed, danced, and showed off their rings to me all on their own. My very favorite image is the one of Rob licking Christine’s face. What an icon.

I then released them into the wild (aka cocktail hour) where they hugged people tightly, laughed a lot, and showed off those rings some more!

Reception

I lovedddd the reception design that Mod Events dreamed up with Christine & Rob! So much COLOR. Kala really knows how to make me happy (-;

Being true to themselves, during the dancing, Christine & Rob surprised their guests with giant foam hats of all shapes and sizes for people to wear. It was awesome and everyone loved it!

They said they wanted their guests to have a blast and I think they nailed it!
